The processing integrity category focuses on whether a company has implemented controls to ensure that its systems and data are accurate, complete, and processed in a timely manner. This includes transaction processing controls, system error handling, and data input validation.

The confidentiality category focuses on whether a company has implemented controls to protect its confidential and sensitive data. This includes data encryption, secure storage, and data access controls.

The privacy category focuses on whether a company has implemented controls to protect the privacy of its customers’ personal information. This includes data classification, data retention policies, and data handling procedures.

SOC2 reports are issued in two types, Type I and Type II. A Type I report assesses the effectiveness of a company’s controls at a specific point in time, while a Type II report assesses the effectiveness of a company’s controls over a period of time, usually six months or more.
